The SQUID is is the first enemy seen in Devil Daggers. They do not directly attack the player, but spawn waves of SKULLs instead. However, collision with the player will still kill the player. Killing SQUIDs is important, because they will spawn more waves of SKULLs over time. On the other hand leaving them alive can also be beneficial, for more on that see the 'Farming' paragraph on the gems page.

All SQUIDs have common behavior, see below.

  • All SQUIDs spawn at the very edge of the arena.
  • All SQUIDs spawn groups of SKULL I along with a single SKULL II, SKULL III or SKULL IV.
  • All SQUIDs carry at least one gem.
  • If a gem is shot enough times, it is released from the SQUID.
  • All SQUIDs die after all their gems are released.
  • All SQUIDs turn around clockwise.
  • All SQUIDs take 10 seconds to make a full turn.
  • All SQUIDs will move towards the center.
  • All SQUIDs will pick a random direction when they have reached the center.
  • When the SQUIDs are at the edge of the arena again, they will move towards the center again.
  • SQUIDs will change direction if another SQUID is blocking their way.

SQUID I Edit

SQUID I is the first SQUID that will spawn and will be the only SQUID that will spawn for the first 40 Seconds. SQUID I spawns nine SKULL I and one SKULL II.

SQUID I is the most commonly used squid for farming techniques, this is because they are extremely predictable and easy to kill when the time comes. The other man reason SQUID I is used is because each time it spawns enemies it spawns a SKULL II allowing the player to pick up an extra gem each spawn cycle.

SQUID I follows all basic rules of other squids
